The waste water tank doesn’t seem to be filling! A quick look below and we discover the plastic waste tap pipe hanging down. It has separated from the waste tank and washing up water has thus drained straight out on to the pitch. Fortunately, being so dry, it has just soaked away with no ill effect.
Was it damaged at the rough site at Ardales? We ponder and
realise it was working back at the last site at La Herradula and so it must
have worked loose on the journey along the N340 the other day.
Duct tape and zip ties – what would we do without them? When
the dealer fitted a new waste mat sensor system some months ago under warranty,
he/she used black duct tape to hold everything together. It has become loose
and frayed. Not the best job done, is it?
Maggie takes me to the little site café for coffee and
pastries – a reward for my ‘fixing’ skills. We are joined by several sparrows, expert but
very polite scavengers. The café is sited in a converted shipping crate and
doubles as café, small bakery and small shop for basic food stuffs.
We attempt to cycle to Ricon, the coastal resort further
east but after a few miles we discover cliff falls mean some serious major
diversions onto busy coastal roads, so we turn around to head back along the
coastal prom to Malaga!
Stupid idea. It’s a Sunday. The wind has dropped to nothing.
The waves have died down to ones that can be safely surfed. Gravity has
reclaimed sand grains! Everyone is out strolling. Every café has put out tables
and chairs across the promenade.
Cycling is impossible and so we stop at a cafe for an hour; two
coffees later, we are soaking up the sun and are very reluctant to move. Still,
we try and about two miles further on give up any cycling plans for the day.
Back on site, we laze in chairs, read, grab showers and
clean out Bryony.
Our last day on the south Spanish coast didn’t quite turn
out as planned but we are pretty chilled and we have had a brilliant time.
Tomorrow, we start the long journey back north to Caen and the ferry back to
Portsmouth!
