A leisurely start, the sun is shining and it's finally 16C.

We cycle eastwards up steep roads which switch back and forwards up through a very wealthy residential area of holiday homes with stellar views. The ride down the other side is brake squealing but we arrive right down at sea level and cycle through the little resort of San Cristobal. Beautiful little place, lovely fine pebble beach. The cafe at the very end, right next to the rocky island outcrop with the cross on it - great beach location, lovely views, great Café Con Leches.

By the way, we saw a number of motorhomes parked up overnight at the far western end of this little resort, right up against the cliffs – not marked in the apps but clearly permitted.

Further east around the corner Alumecar is more touristy, larger, busier. Plenty to see ... castle, roman ruins, old aqueduct ... blink and you will miss it though!

A tip from the tourist info office in La Herradura ..... find the old river bed, cycle a little way up it and see better views of said aqueduct. We tried that. The other remains are on private land. You have to peer over a high wall and through or orchards of thick trees to possibly see two arches at best.

Maggie browses seafront souvenir shops for postcards. She sends postcards to the kids on every trip we make. She's a good mother isn't she.

The cycle back to La Herradula is exhausting and is done in turbo mode on the E bikes. The ride down the other side though is spectacular.

Back on site .... laundry is done ..... washing machine is 4.5 euros and dryer 3.5 euros and you will need to put your washing bags into a queue. I clean Bryony’s mats and carpets, pick out all the irritating tiny pieces of gravel and have a general clean and tidy. We read and snooze. A lazy afternoon – perfect!
