October 16th day fifty

Is Rochefort in France worth visiting?

It’s a long drive to Rochefort, where we stop at the municipal site. We stroll into town in late afternoon, to do some window shopping. At the Tourist information office, I am informed that the wooden frigate informs Hermione is in Bayonne. I'm devastated; I so wanted to go aboard it. Gutted!

The municipal site is clean, well laid out, level and screened by trees and hedges. Plots are a generous size. Our plot has a tap. Sadly, it’s a push button type and so I can’t attach a hose to fill the tank. Hey Ho – that’s the way it goes sometimes. However, bizarrely, and with no forthcoming rationale, we are told that the greywater drain site is 300m back up the road at another Aire! You’ve been warned!
