The nearest shop for a Sunday paper is at Gorran Churchtown about a mile away along the road and across some fields. A pleasant early morning stroll – the shop opening at 9.

Of course, it was ‘bed fairy’ who strolled to get the papers!

Papers in the cafĂ© with breakfast – lovely and its 24C at 0930.

After this lazy start we stroll up the path across the fields and onto the little lane that runs eastwards along the cliff top. Vault beach is a forty-minute stroll away and from the cliff tops it reminds us of the best hidden beaches in Sicily.

We laze on the fine gravel beach all afternoon – I manage to take two dips – without wetsuits – unheard of for me – lots of tiny jellyfish of the non-stinging variety drift by. Turquoise blue and golden sands under the water – very Med like. People bring a beach bag, a yoga mat and a small beach brolly – simple. No wind breaks, no BBQ’s. Simplicity itself.
