We are literally the last few on site. A couple of caravans and one campervan and us. Even the septic tank lorry has been called in. The site closes down for the winter today.

As we set off, Maggie takes the opportunity to drive around the site a couple of times to gain more familiarity with going up and down through Bryony’s gears. Its further training for when she starts driving the motorhome along dual carriageways and motorways.

We are moving to our last site – a night stop over at the Cotswold village where my parents live and so we are counting this day as the end of our motorhome tour of mid and north Wales.

Given we don’t have far to go, we decide to call in and explore Chepstow, which we find to be a very pleasant town with nice shops and a town trail to follow. We didn’t go in the castle. We will save that for another time.

We did find a delightful traditional teashop in the main high street. Classic 1940’s light music in the background; waitresses dressed in traditional 40’s style. Food and service was excellent and ambiance very relaxing and chilled.

This has been a good trip; one we have thoroughly enjoyed and we can see why many motorhomers tour for many months at a time. Bryony is compact but has everything we need onboard. A little home from home. A simpler lifestyle of freedom.

We are still trying to work out our budgeting when motorhoming but we think on this trip we have spent the following:

Fuel: £300

Trips, visits and meals out: £440

Camp sites: £590

Total cost for month excluding normal food purchases: £1330 – which is around £47 per day.

Mileage wise we have covered around 900 miles or so.
