Day five of the escape to Fowey

We both agree we have to break this habit once and for all. It’s just too expensive and is also laziness on our part.

The brioche bun and bacon bap with hash brown are delicious. Under shady umbrellas down on Charlestown harbour quayside, we scrutinise the Sunday papers and savour our Lattes.

We really have to break this habit!

Three hours later we return to Bryony up the road and we head for home. Tomorrow she is in for her habitation service at 0830 and they have asked us to empty her of everything. Absolutely everything!

So that’s there afternoon gone then!

Some tips:

Parking a motorhome in Fowey is a nightmare at this time of year. Don’t even bother trying to use the town car park on the hill. You will not get a space and when we looked, we couldn’t find any spaces where you could fit a motorhome over 6m anyway. Just up from the public Caffa Mill car park, there is a private car park on uneven ground. Plenty of space for a motorhome but again, availability at this time of year is an issue.

The Caffa Mill car park down at the Ferry is also permanently full! There is another car park over at Readymoney, listed on the app ‘park4night’.

At Charlestown, get there early and park on the roadside at the top of the hill. The further down you go, the more yellow lines there are. There is a car park at the bottom and every time we looked, there were spaces, some of which you could fit a motorhome in.

Postscript:

The habitation check was fine except for the water pump. It failed again and they were unable to get any water out of the tank. They have ordered a new pump and it will be fitted mid-august. I did ask if we could swap it for a shurflo pump and we were met with a flat refusal. Since all this is being done under warranty, we will go with another Whale pump. If the problem starts again, we will get someone independent to fit a Shurflo pump for us instead.
