December 2nd and the lock down has been lifted. We cannot begin to describe the sense of relief in discovering that the temporary repair made by our dealers to the leaking roof has held through the violent autumnal wins and rain we have experienced. Opening the doors, we were expecting a damp smell and discovery of damp or water within the bathroom wardrobe. There was none. The paper towel we had laid on the wardrobe floor was bone dry; the little dehumidifiers scattered around the wardrobe were completely devoid of any trapped moisture. We are overjoyed and so we promptly celebrate with a day trip.

Living in a tier 2 area we decide against going down into Cornwall for the day. We just don't think it would be fair to our Cornish friends who are in tier 1. So, we head eastwards to Exmouth instead. All of Devon is all in tier 2. It avoids any complications.

Coffee, honeycombed millionaire slices and a read of the newspapers. A stunning view with intermittent glimpses of the four ocean liners moored off Torquay. A stroll along the beach front.

Batteries are now charged up to 12.9v each. One less thing to keep worrying about.

In two days time, Bryony will be dropped off at the dealership so they can inspect the leaky roof. Whilst we haven't found any further leakage evidence in the bathroom cupboard from during the lock down, we did discover an enlarging gap between the cupboard panel and van side wall on our return to the storage site. The three draws below the cupboard are now sticking and not running freely. Could this be the result of water trickling down the side between panel and wardrobe? Could plywood somewhere have expanded and delaminated slightly?

For a new motorhome, we have had a few snags and you can read about some of these here at

It is a good job we are patient and easy going!

It was good to be out and about today and over the next few weeks we will do a few more day trips and post them on our 'Postcards from......' blog page.  You can find it here at

In the meantime, if you are getting out, stay safe, have fun, take care out there and enjoy your motorhoming.
