Slapton Sands at Torcross is one of our favourite local escapes. We get to drive around the stunning South Hams and then pull in at the car park down at Torcross where we get lovely views out to sea and along the coast towards Dartmouth or towards Start Point with its distinctive lighthouse silhouette.

Batteries get charged (before we go into a post Christmas national lock down) and we manage to read the papers and have lovely cups of lattes. The ley was very full and excess rainwater had spilled out across the road around several bends in the village causing severe flooding.

There was a gentle but very chilly northerly breeze - hardly surprising given an area of high pressure is parked above us, but the sun shines, the seas are bright blue-grey and people are jolly. Some brave souls even try to have a picnic on the beach.

Bryony's batteries are now back up to 12.9v each.
